Around the campfire
Posted on Sunday June 01, 2014

This shot was a nice surprise.
I think my son took this. He was 6 at the time.
I'll be digging up more photos from
this trip to the North Woods –
one of my favorite places on earth.

Way Back When

So, I'm at lunch recently and strike up a conversation with a guy from Denver
who's in town to help his sister open a pottery studio (I used to do a lot of throwing
and handbuilding in high school and college, but I'll save that for another time).
Anyhow, we start talking about songs on the jukebox, he brings up what I would
consider a fairly obscure band from the late '80's early '90's - Sonia Dada.
I almost fell off my bar stool. I designed their debut album cover! (above)
Paris Delane, one awesome dude – and a singer in the band, came to me with
this image of the boy riding the alligator and said "This is what we want" so we
put it together in an evening and off he went to the production company. I ran into
him on the street a few years later. He recognized me having lunch at an outdoor
cafe in Chicago. He sat down and we caught up for a bit. Paris and the band did
a Pizza Hut commercial for us. One of those things in life I'll never forget.
And to think this guy from Colorado triggered the memory.
Gotta love how small this world is. Check out the links above.

Seeing The Big Picture
Posted on Saturday April 19, 2014

I attended a 1-day seminar entitled "Business Acumen".
It was based on this book. The seminar was actually pretty good –
presenting nuts & bolt info on how to interpret financials.
We received the book at the seminar. It seems short, sweet and to the point.
I'll let you know. In the meantime, based on the seminar,
I'm comfortable recommending it.
